This year, Mum and I decided that we would get back to basics and have a proper crafty Christmas, making little handmade gifts and edibles. As usual, we grossly overestimated the amount of time we’d have, and had to probably eighth the amount of projects, but here are a few of my favourites (slash the ones that I was able to photograph before family members tucked in!) Here’s the first of what will hopefully be a few blog posts, of something nice we made for the holiday season!
Yesterday, we headed to the shop to do the ‘big Christmas shop’ (i.e. one trolley for food, the other for alcohol!) There’s a cocktail bar in Nottingham called ‘Coco Tang’ which serves delights such as toblerone and haribo cocktails, so I tweaked this cocktail out of one of my cocktail books to suit what we had in.
For 3 cocktails:
6 shots milk
3 scoops icecream (melted in microwave if necessary)
3 shots creme de menthe
2 shots malibu
Dash of coconut cream
Cocoa powder to taste & extra to decorate
Mint leaves to decorate
So yum, you really can play with the measurements until you get the right balance between mint and chocolate, suiting your palette. You really can’t taste the malibu/coconut flavours at all, due to the overwhelming mint and chocolate flavours, but who doesn’t want their tipple to go that little bit further! The original recipe had chocolate mint liqueur, but I found cocoa worked just as well added to creme de menthe. It also suggested to use a blender for the icecream and ingredients, but frankly, ain’t nobody got time for that this holiday season, so be lazy like me and whack it in the microwave for 30 seconds instead!
Happy Christmas everyone!
