A while back I wrote a post about book art, and picked out my favourite book covers. After having my eye caught by three different covers recently, I decided it was about time I did another.
Gone Girl – Gillian Flynn
The book of the moment, I’ve just ordered this in the hope of reading it before it leaves the cinemas (probably going to have to be a DVD though, I think!) I love the simple styling, but actually think it’s really brave to add business behind text. But it works so well.
Us – David Nicholls
Again, simple styling but I love that this design brings typography to the forefront. Featuring just three tiny silhouette figures, this one really adheres to the less is more mantra.
The Shock of the Fall – Nathan Filer
This one makes the list simply because I absolutely adore papercuts. I think there’s something really clever about getting a piece of art out of a single piece of material, and I’m always drawn to books like this in the book store.
What are your favourite covers around at the moment?
